Rosemary Gallant

Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy London

Rosemary Gallant, a career member of the United States Senior Foreign Service, took up her duties at the U.S. Embassy in London in August 2019 as the Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs.

Prior to her assignment in London, Gallant served as the Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. Before Indonesia, Ms. Gallant served as the Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, responsible for trade promotion and commercial affairs.

Rosemary Gallant joined the Commerce Department’s Office of China to work on bilateral trade policy issues. She subsequently worked as a Commercial Officer at the US Consulate Generals in Shanghai and Hong Kong and as a senior international trade specialist in Connecticut. Ms. Gallant was the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the American Institute in Taiwan and the Commercial Attaché responsible for trade programs at the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.

Ms. Gallant graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in Chinese and Economics and did graduate studies in Nanjing, China. She speaks Chinese, French, and Indonesian.
