Andy Blackhall is the Managing Director of the Water Research Centre (WRc) and British Water International Forum Chair.
As an Environmental scientist, Andy is passionate about the positive impact the water and waste management sector have on the environment and the communities both here in the UK and internationally.
Andy promotes open collaboration and knowledge transfer with a preference for collaboration over competition given that the challenges of the sector are so intertwined.
As the Water Sector specialist for Her Majesties Government – Department for international Trade Andy established an Anglo-Indian young people’s knowledge transfer initiative.
WRc are represented at board level by an Early Career Group member – Andy is keen to ensure that WRc plays its part in the recruitment and development of early careers so that board strategy is influenced by its future leaders.
Andy also holds non-executive roles with both WaterWise – the NGO responsible for getting water efficiency on the Whitehall radar and for British Water, ensuring that the trade body best reflects the UK sector for International Trade.
