History of the Industry Forum
The Industry Forum was established in the early 1990s to improve communication between businesses and public policy makers.
The founders, active in diverse areas of business, recognised the divide between the public and private sectors. They understood the advantages of constructive dialogue - in developing policies and regulations that met public interest needs on the one hand and the imperatives of business on the other.
Many, in both the public and private sectors, shared this view and, from the start, Industry Forum membership grew rapidly.
Since then, as the policy and regulatory context have changed, so the Industry Forum has adapted its activities. For instance, the topics we discuss reflect current and developing policies; we now hold more events on EU policy; our speakers reflect a greater diversity of views; we frequently collaborate with other organisations to improve our offer and members sponsor our events.
We listen to our members and essentially our activities reflect our members’ interests.
